Picture Book Recommendation, The Cats of Mrs. Calamari

The Cats of Mrs. Calamari by John Stadler is a charming picture book for children between three and eight, although older children might enjoy reading it to younger friends or siblings. Mrs. Calamari has just moved into a new apartment and gotten settled in with what appears to be hundreds of cats. Before she knows it her new landlord, Everett Gangplank, and his huge dog stop in to announce that he is making the building cat free. Luckily, Mr. Gangplank’s glasses are missing, so Mrs. Calamari convinces him that the cats in her presence are not. From statutes to relatives, the cats are under Mr. Gangplank’s nose through out the book. When he finds his glasses will he be angry or have a change of heart? The illustrations are charming, entertaining, and a perfect addition to the wit and sweetness inherent in the story. A must have for any household with dog and cat people at war, as well as animal lovers of all generations.
