Wrede, and the world of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles is still one of my favorite to go back to. I love how Wrede incorporates elements of fairy tales into her world with dry humor. It takes a lot of fantasy tropes and does odd things to them in interesting ways. It has a great plot and a fun heroine who is pretty much a tornado of disaster. Mostly because my brother grew up loving it first, and then in college I read the trilogy for my fantasy class. I remember constantly flipping back to the map for reference throughout the stories. I do have to say that the movies did it justice, in my opinion, along with Legolas being more attractive than I could have imagined. :)

Gretchen Tenczanoreply@blogger.com
